Scope and Content Chambered cairn known as March Cairn, West Mainland, Shetland The March Cairn is near Priesthoulland, West Mainland. It is a square cairn edged with boulders which had probably been filled in with earth and stones when it had stopped being used. This is a plan of the cairn. The square outline is marked by boulders and there is a taller stone at each corner. The short passage leads into a cruciform chamber, both of which were paved. The cairn has been excavated. Finds consisted off two small sherds of pottery, two stones discs and a quartz tool. There was no trace of any burials. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
