Scope and Content The collection comprises photographic copies of drawings from the Roxburgh Estate. Drawings of proposed alterations to Floors Castle to designs by W H Playfair, 1842. A book of plans of farms and other buildings, Floors Castle, and a race stand, 1826-37.

Archive History The Playfair drawings of alterations to Floors were lent by the Duke of Roxburghe, per the Scottish Record Office (NRS) for copying by RCAHMS as a Survey of a Private Collection, 1972. Estate book lent by the Roxburgh Estate for copying by RCAHMS as a Survey of a Private Collection, 1999, and accessioned as Acc No 1999/230.

Administrative History Floors Castle, Roxburghshire. The seat of the Duke of Roxburgh, the existing building was built to designs by William Adam between 1721 and 1726, although it possibly incorporates earlier fabric. The building took its present form when remodelled by W H Playfair between 1837-45.
