Scope and Content This is a close view of the three bridges which cross the River Conon at Maryburgh/Conon Bridge. The site of the fabrication yard and sand and gravel workings can be seen to the left on the Conon Bridge side of the river. The road bridge carries the A862 and was opened in 1969, replacing the original Telford Bridge built in 1806-09. The railway bridge was opened in 1862 and designed by Joseph Mitchell. The tollhouse on the Maryburgh side of the bridges towards the centre of the photo was built by Joseph Mitchell in 1828.
