Description Aerial view of N Kessock, A9, N of Inverness, looking W.

Date 2001

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1944981

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This view shows the A9 bypassing N Kessock. The Beauly Firth is to the left. This section of the A9 was constructed about 1982 to provide a new route leading from the newly opened Kessock Bridge northwards over the base of the Black Isle towards the Tore roundabout. The jetty for the Kessock ferry is the most distant on the shore line. The previous ferry waiting rooms still survive. The closer, East, pier (Old pier) was designed by Telford and later superseded. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
