Nothing remains of a structure that was situated 65m NW of the Refrigeration House (NY26SE 17.02).
This structure is identified as an Ejector House on an undated plan (SUPP 10-39) held in the National Archives at Kew. It was rectangular on plan and measured about 3.5m from NNW to SSE by 1.5m transversely. It was linked to an overhead pipeline that transferred steam from the Boiler House (NY26SE 17.02) about 100m to its SSE. This steam was used to heat the buildings on the Nitro-glycerine Hills (NY26SE 16.01- 16.05). A blueprint (SUPP 10-27 3786A) also held at Kew shows this pipeline in some detail.
This Ejector House fell into lot 491, which was offered for sale by auction on 22-5 July 1924 (HM Treasury 1924, 89; Carlisle City Archives, DX 170/38), when it was purchased by Greenwood & Another of Broomhills, Eastriggs (Carlisle City Archives, DX 2040/3).
