Archaeology Notes

NY07NW 47.03 c. 0032 7912

For W part of Heathfield Airfield see NX97NE 153.00 and also falls on map sheet NX98SE.

(NY 005 788) A pillbox is situated on a slight ridge to the E of Catherine field Road, about 300m NW of Downs Bank Cottage.

Information from Defence of Britain Project form, undated

The pillbox is visible on 1:5000 scale vertical air photographs (106G/UK 1314, 5009-5011, flown 27 March 1946), which would suggest that it is a type 22.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), April 2006
