The main technical area for Heathhall Airfield (NX97NE 153.00) is siuated on the E side of the runways, N of Burnt Firs plantation.
Two of the J or K type aircraft sheds are in orignal condition, the third (NY 00287 78402) has either been heavily modified or completely replaced.
Immediately to the E are many huts and buildings relating to the technical site including at least one AML bombing trainer building. Many of the huts have now been cleared, but several remain in use or are derelict. The are is visible on oblque air photographs taken in 1996 (RCAHMS 1996)
The whole group is visible on vertical air photographs (106G/UK 1314, 5035-5036, flown 27 March 1946 and on RAF WW II air photographs (FNO 158, 6.5 and 6.12, flown 26 September 1942).
A further small area (NY 0126 7741 which was utilised for scrapping redundant aircraft in the postwar period is now occupied by a bus depot.

Pillbox Study Group identified what may be a dome training building and eight Stanton type Air Raid Shelters, seven of which appear to have been removed. The Air Raid Shelters are located at NY 0035 7861 (extant), NY 0038 7843, NY 0040 7841, NY 0042 7844, NY 0055 7843, NY 0062 7831, NY 0061 7833 and NY 0059 7830. The dome trainer building has been removed but the foundation is visible on current 25cm aerial imagery at NX 00315 78305.
