A brick and concrete WWII quadrant tower is situated on the shore, N of Carsethorn, adjacent to Carse Bay. Standing on four legs the single tower was used for spotting on the bombing range off-shore used by aircraft from Heathall airfield (NX97NE 153.00).

The quadrant tower and concrete bombing target arrow are visible on vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 41, 2002-2003, flown 4 May 1946), which shows that there was a small circular feaure on the beach, two blocks on either side of the arrow with two concrete bars at the SW end. The tower and arrow are also visible on air photographs taken in 1988 (All Scotland Survey [Jasair], 25 88 120-121, flown 16 June 1988), which show that the two concrete bars, blocks and circular feature have either been removed or are now buried.
The tower and arrow are shown on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map.
