Some 200yds NE of Old Crawfordton (NX 815 888) is the site of a large circular cairn, of which little more than a surrounding fringe of stone remains. (See NX88NW 2)
RCAHMS 1920, visited 1912
Corrie (doubtless referring to the same feature) describes an enclosure, on the S side of the River Cairn, about 1/8 mile E of Old Crawfordton. It measures 66ft in diameter within a well-defined circular rampart of earth and stone now only 2ft high. an opening to the S probably marks an entrance. The central area, apart from slight heaps of stone, is flat. (see NX88NW 2)
Corrie 1920
Enclosure, NX 8170 8896 A 2m to 3m wide low stony bank encloses an area 20m N/S by 18m E/W.

Field Visit (27 January 1992)
This cairn is situated at the leading edge of a broad terrace overlooking the Cairn Water and measures 24m in diameter and up to 1.2m in height. The interior has been largely removed leaving a stony rim and a hummocky interior.
The OS would appear to have misinterpreted the earlier descriptions by RCAHMS (RCAHMS 1920) and Corrie (Corrie 1910) with the homestead (NX88NW2 NX 8166 8865).
