(NX 7358 6488) Crop mark - nature uncertain.
Information from J K St Joseph, 1949.
The cropmark of a possible enclosure occupies the top of a flat-topped hillock commanding an extensive view of the valley of the River Dee. There is nothing to be seen on the ground.
Visited by OS (RD), 29 July 1968.
(Re-positioned to NX 7358 6489) On the date of visit, this site, which is situated on a low rise about 180m E of Loch Ken, was under pasture and no surface remains were visible.
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, IMS), 8 September 1993.
Publication Account (17 December 2011)
Recorded in 1949 by St Joseph from the air (1958: 89), this cropmark enclosure, lying inside Glenlochar I, measures about 80m from WNW to ESE by 70m and enclosed 0.67ha (1.4 acres). A square enclosure, measuring some 43m by 40m is tucked into its south-east corner. Despite a superficial resemblance to camps such as Crawford III and IV and Ellisland I and II, the enclosure may well not be Roman in date.
