(NX 5806 5588) Bushybield (NR) (site of)

OS 6" map (1957)

The site of an old house which was of a baronial character; it was pulled down in 1827. It was the home of the Rev S Rutherford, minister of Anwoth 1627-1639, but was probably a private residence before this time. It was never in the glebe, and in 1690 was owned by someone called Gordon who was shot in that year by Sir Godfrey McCulloch of Cardoness Castle (NX55NE 11).
