Archaeology Notes

NX34SE 12 c. 371 414.

A bronze statuette of Mercury, 5" high, was found in 1871 when ploughing on Stelloch farm (NX 368 413). It was donated to the NMAS in 1889 by Sir H Maxwell, when its provenance was given as Blairbuy, an adjacent farm (Acc No FR 226).

This statuette is alleged to have been found in the field centred at NX 371 414 (Mr McMasters, Blairbuy Farm) otherwise no further information. Visited by OS (IA) 31 January 1973.
