A cross-slab of slaty sandstone, broken along three edges, found at Kirk of Mochrum (NX 34 46) was donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1889 by Sir Herbert Maxwell. It measures 2'3" x 11", and is covered with relief interlace work on one side. The carving is in the Whithorn style, and probably of 11th century date (Accession no. IB 126) (see also NX34NW 3).
