Archaeology Notes

NT82SW 208 centred on 8041 2189

An isolated structure lies in deep heather on a moderately steep NE-facing slope on open hillside to the N of Kersmoor Head and above the footpath leading SW from Cliftoncote over the watershed to Hownam Mains.

The structure is situated about 90m to the E of, and below an extensive series of stock enclosures (NT82SW 201). It measures 9m from NNE to SSW by 6m overall although it narrows towards the N end, and is open on the SSW. The interior is slightly raised.
