A large area of cross-contour rig spreads over the lower moderate slopes on the SSE side of Percy Law. The rig measures up to 270m from NNW to SSE by 290m. The rig extends uphill, from an unnamed tributary of the Atton Burn, over moderate slopes up to, and indeed onto, the lower limits of an area of contour cultivation (NT82SW 66) that occupies the steep slopes rising to the summit of Percy Law. Drainage defines the E and NE edge of the rig whilst the W edge is marked by the change of slope from SSE to W and is respected by two further areas of rig (NT82SW 150 and NT82SW 142). The rigs average 4.5m in width between furrows up to 0.5m wide and 0.1m deep.
Towards the NW corner of the rig as it extends down over the W-facing slope, there are two lynchets, or possibly banks, running parallel along the contour. The upper lynchet, between NT 8178 2323 and NT 8181 2319, measures 55m in length by up to 2m in width and stands up to 0.4m in height. The lower lynchet, between NT 8176 2322 and NT 8179 2313, defines the W extent of the rig and separates it from an further area of cultivation to the W (NT82SW 150). The lynchet measures 90m in length by 2.5m in width and stands up to 0.2m in height.
