23 October 1864, TRITON, 13 yrs old, schooner, 90 tons, 5 crew, departed Rostock on 3 Oct, for Leith carrying wheat, stranded, total loss, 4 lives lost, wind ENE12, Thornton Loch, 6 miles E of Dunbar.

Dunbar, 24th Oct. The following vessels are ashore near this place, viz.:- LOUISE, Demazure, from Charente to Leith, with brandy, a total wreck: crew and part of cargo saved. TRITON, Brandt, from Rostock to Leith, with wheat, a total wreck: mate only saved. LUCY END, Craigie, from Montrose to London, with deals: crew saved. [Record received incomplete].
