A cist, containing a beaker, was found in February 1939 on Skateraw farm. The findspot was on the crest of a low natural ridge, near the uninhabited manse of Innerwick North Church, about 5 yds on the E side of the hedge, immediately in front of the windows; there was no trace of a tumulus. The cist, which was less than 1ft below the surface, was formed of four slabs and measured 4ft by 2 1/2 ft by about 2ft deep.
The bones it contained had turned to dust; the accompanying beaker was sent to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) for inspection by Mr D Bowe of Skateraw. It is listed as of S4 type by Clarke, who states that it is still in the NMAS.
The findspot was positioned by O G S Crawford and confirmed by Mr D Bowe (of Skateraw) (OS Reviser 10 July 1952).

The cist had been filled in by the time Stevenson visited the site in September 1939, and there were no surface remains visible in 1966.
