Originally built as a gate lodge for Eccles House in the first half of the nineteenth century, No 23 Eccles, Main Street is now a private dwelling.
The single-storeyed gate lodge retains a number of original features, including overhanging timber eaves. To the north-west of the building is a pair of early nineteenth century sandstone gate piers, which are both surmounted by urn-shaped finials above circular stone caps.
