Accessing Scotland's Past Project

The remains of Old Nenthorn House still survive as a roofless shell to the south-west of Nenthorn House, near the site of OId Nenthorn Church. Early photographs show the house towards the end of its occupation, but judging by its architectural details, the main block of the house was of early eighteenth-century character, with associated pavilions.

It fell into disuse in the late nineteenth century, and now no trace remains of the central crow-stepped gable above the main entrance.

This house would have been home to members of the Roy family, who owned the estate of Nenthorn in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
