The remains of a cairn, 40ft in diameter and 2ft high, lie about 80ft north of stone circle NT55SE 5. A stony area, 24ft in diameter, probably the base of another cairn, lies 12ft to the south.

RCAHMS 1915, visited 1908; J H Craw 1923

A: At NT 5574 5236 is a robbed cairn, 13.0m in diameter and 0.6m maximum height. A trench, possibly an excavation trench, is cut through it.

B: At NT 5574 5234 is a stony area, appearing as a slight swelling in the ground, of negligible height and roughly 8.0m in diameter.

A: A heavily disturbed heather-covered cairn as described. Its overall diameter is 14.5m.

B: There are no intelligible remains of this feature on the edge of a natural stony rise.

'A' surveyed at 1/10,000.

227. Cairn, Borrowstoun Rig.

About 80 feet to the northward of the most northerly stone of the stone circle (No. 226) are the remains of a small circular cairn, the stones of which have been partially removed.
