Eldbotle: This name applies to a small hill feature situated at the S end of Eldbotle Wood. It is said to be the site of some old dwelling or dwellings.

Name Book 1853

Eldbotle is named 'Oldbotle' (cf Newbotle = Newbattle) in Blaeu's Atlas.

G Chalmers 1810

The village of Eldbotle lay in the area centred NT 5010 8560. There are no extant remains, but medieval pottery has been found there (J Richardson, 7 Tantallon Terr, N Berwick).

This is likely to be the village of Eldbottle, previuosly recorded some 650m to the NNE (see NT58NW 11).
