(NT 4781 3448) Earthwork (NR) (site of)

OS 6" map (1971)

This small hill fort has been nearly ploughed out. It appears to have two ramparts, one nearly circular, and the other only forming an outer defence half-way, on the E.

Name Book 1858

This earthwork is situated in cultivated land at a height of 810 ft O D. Nothing more remains of the defences than a slight terrace, but air photographs (RAF.CPE.SCOT 315:2915-6) show an oval enclosure, probably with two concentric banks, which measures internally 200 ft E-W by about 180 ft transversely.

RCAHMS 1957, visited 1950

This earthwork has been completely ploughed out; no traces remain.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 18 January 1961.
