Archaeology Notes

NT40NE 29 c479 090.

A Bronze Age spearhead from Southfield (NT 472 088) is in Hawick Museum.

RCAHMS 1956; J Anderson and G F Black 1888

Coles, noting this spearhead as from near Warrior's Grave, Southfield (NT40NE 4, at NT 479 090) classifies it as Late Bronze Age, Class V in 1959. However, he re-classified that material as Middle Bronze Age in 1963, but this spearhead is omitted from his later list.

J M Coles 1962; 1966

This spearhead is not on display in the museum and is uncatalogued. However, Dr M Robson (Hawick Museum) believes that it is still in the museum's possession.
