(NT 3243 9750) Standing Stone (NAT)

OS 6"map, (1920)

There is a stone, on the turnpike road, about 1/3 mile after entering the parish from the east; it has stood time immemorial; it is 4ft in height above ground, and 3ft diameter, by some called the standing stone, by others the half-way stone between Kirkcaldy and Kennoway.

OSA 1795.

A smooth stone of rectangular section, 1.2m high, 0.3m broad, 0.2m thick. It is not set very firmly in the ground, and has more of the appearance of a boundary stone than a stone of great antiquity. It bears no inscription, excepting an OS bench mark.

Visited by OS (J F C) 6 October 1954.
