Note (19 August 2013)
During the course of the First World War the arrangement of the defences of Inchmickery were improved.
In 1915 the island was provided with two temporary searchlight emplacements, at the NE (NT 20670 80625) and SE (NT 20729 80509) corners of the island.
By 1916 these were removed and replaced by four searchlight emplacements. The site of emplacement to the S (NT 20720 80498), No. 4, is now occupied by a Second World War searchlight. It is unclear if any of the original structure is extant in the current building.
The Nos 2 and 3 (NT 20675 80622) have been removed when the Twin 6-pounder gun emplacement was installed. Searchlight No. 1 (NT 2062080608) may survive as a concrete base.
