Archaeology Notes

NT28SW 1.10 20623 80571

A mainly brick with concrete inserts pillbox or blockhouse situated at the N end of the pier (NT28SW 1.04). The pillbox is not built to any of the standard designs and has been inserted in the space between a row of buildings and the cliff edge. It has three loopholes, two of which face along the pier with one on the SE angle..

The location of this structure immediately in front of a window opening in the building to the NE would suggest a later construction date.
