Architecture Notes

NT27NW 589 21196 75124

A possible WW II loopholed wall is extant at the W end of House O'Hill Crescent at the junction with Corbiehill Road. Set into a garden wall on the S side of House O'Hill Road are two loopholes both wider than others in the area (see NT27NW 52 and 590).

If these are WW II remains, the wall would have formed part of the triple defence lines planned for Edinburgh, probably part of No.1 Battalion of the Blue Line at the start of World War II.

Further loopholed walls can be found in Gamekeepers Road (NT17NE 228 and 229), with the former now demolished.
