Archaeology Notes

NT26NE 46 c. 275 694.

The tower or castle of Malbet, who was probably the founder of Liberton church, stood on or near the court of the present school (at NT 2752 6947 on OS 6" 1855). In form it may have been similar to the tower W of the church (NT26NE 7); nothing, however, is known with certainty about it. An old house, with a sundial dated 1676 on its third floor, stood on the site as late as 1840.
