The island was re-armed in October 1939 and two twin 6-pounders were installed in 1940 at NT 19147 82677 (no. 2 gun) and NT 19225 82549 (no. 1 gun). Both emplacements had a direction OP built to the rear of the emplacement and is visible on RAF aerial photography M021/S309, 6964 flown 2 November 1941. The No. 1 gun was built below and to the E of the emplacements of the 4-inch guns installed in 1917 (see NT18SE 22.03).

A World War Two coast battery, two twin 6-pounder guns installed in 1940. Placed on a care and maintainance basis in December 1943, the guns being finally removed in 1956.
