This bridge is in a poor condition, having been abandoned since the closure of the shale works with which it was connected.

This bridge is shown connecting fields to the N and S of the canal on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Linlithgowshire 1856, sheet 6) and is visible carrying a path over the canal on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1983) and on the OS 1:10000 raster map (ND).
