Archaeology Notes

NT04NE 24 c. 06 46.

An incomplete Pictish silver chain of 7th-8th century AD date which was found on Borland farm (NT 061 461) in 1895 is in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS Accession no FC 264).

It is composed of 21 pairs of rings and measures 15.6" long. It was an item in the collection of Peter F Dunlop of Dolphinton who died in 1925, which was purchased for the NMAS in 1955.
