Breakwater [NAT] (at NS 939 830)

OS 1:10,000 map, 1993.

This breakwater (essentially a stony embankment) defines and contains the tidal channel of the River Carron to the W of the artificially-elongated projecting peninsula formed by successive extension projects at Grangemouth Docks (NS98SW 7.00). It follows a sinuous course roughly parallel to the W side of the docks, and does not protect the entrance to the dock system itself.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 4 May 2006.
