Chapel Barn Lodge, one of the entrances to Abbey House (NS98NE 4) has been contrived from one of the monastic outbuildings, perhaps a gatehouse with a transe in the lowest part. Only the W gable is original.

Field Visit (31 August 1927)

GATEHOUSE. Chapel Barn Lodge, one of the entrances to the Abbey House, which lies north west of the church, has been contrived from one of the monastic outbuildings, perhaps a gatehouse with a transe in the lowest part. Only the west gable is original. It contains part of a vaulting respond and a vault springer as well as an aumbry. The present surface of the road is about five feet below the former level.
