There is a stone in the churchyard as a centre, (NS97SE 25) and others at a mile distance E, W, S, and N, with a St John's cross on them. They stand about 2' high. (Three of these Refuge Stones - to the N, S and W are recorded under NS97SE 12 and NS97SE 22 NS97SW 2 respectively, but there is now no trace of the stone which stood to the E).
