Horsley notes "the appearance of the ruins of a small fort or castellum" at Peel Glen (NS 521 725); Gordon mentions the vague foundations of stone buildings there, and Roy states that traces of this "fort" were scarcely discernible.

This feature, if it was a structure at all, must have resembled the fortlet at Watling Lodge (NS87NE 7); it can scarcely have been larger. All traces of it have now completely vanished.
