Archaeology Notes

NS56NW 59.01 c.5000 6605

A pillbox is visible on an RAF WWII air photograph (No.1 CAM, 294, 19 June 1941), at the E end of Cockles Loan on the N perimeter of the former Renfrew Airfield. The pillbox which formed part of the airfield defences, is enclosed by barbed-wire. It is not known whether the structure survives in Cockelshill Park.
