Steam Crane, Princes Dock, built 1894 for the Clyde Navigation Trust by Cowans, Sheldon & Co of Carlisle (£16,000) and rebuilt in 1920. A massive fixed crane on a stone base, with a maximum capacity of 95 tons (reduced from 130 tons). The jib consisted of two large tubular girders with bracing ties to an A frame of riveted plates into which the cab was built. Coal bunkers were situated at each corner of the square base. Demolished 1970.

(Re-entered as NS56NE 4919 at cited location NS 56230 65085). The 1983 edition of the OS 1:1250 map (surveyed 1949) depicts what is apparently the massive substructure of this crane on the West Quay at NS 56230 65085. It is depicted as measuring about 18m square.
