Architecture Notes

NS56NE 2384 55659 66264

A fourteen bay red brick and sandstone office block was built in 1885 for D & W Henderson. This two storey structure is built in the French Renaisaance style being topped by a central tower (J Hume 1974). To the rear is a double peinded roof.

The office block was part of the Meadowside Shipbuilding Yard (NS56NE 2569), and graving dock (now removed) and is situated on the N side of the complex fronting to Castlebank Street. There is a proposal to demolish and relocate this office (2002).
