Archaeology Notes

NS54NE 131.02 55470 49428

Lying on the shore of Dunwan Dam, and to the SW of the draw off tower, is an old boat house and bothy, originally used by the reservoir keeper. It measures 6.4m x 3.4m x 3.5m high and was built in 1939. It has coursed blocks of whinstone for the walls, which are lined with brick on the inside. The external surrounds and corner stones are of concrete. A large window has been bricked up while long, slit-like windows survive. There is a chimney on the SW corner, where a fireplace is located internally.

R Hunter, S Hunter 2005.
