Wards Tileworks is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Dumbartonshire 1865, sheet xiv). Three roofed buildings are shown within an enclosed yard. A lade leads to the works from two dammed reservoirs about 350m to the SE, and a drain runs to the River Endrick, about 400m to the NNW.

A clay-pit is also shown in the field to the SE of the works, at NS 4438 8737.
