A quarry, lying within a modern housing estate was noted during the course of a pre-afforestation survey by Headland Archaeology. It survives as a near vertical rock-face some 3m high. The quarry is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 25-inch map (Renfrewshire 1857, sheet vii.15) and annotated 'Freestone quarry'.
M Dalland and C Lowe (Headland Archaeology) 13 November 1998; NMRS MS899/101, no.1
The mound depicted to the W of the quarry on the 1st edition of the OS 25-inch map (Renfrewshire 1857, sheet vii.15) may be associated with the quarry rather than with the designed landscape around Craigends House.
