Elements of the designed landscape in the grounds of Craigends House, on the S of the River Gryfe, were recorded during a pre-afforestation survey by Headland Archaeology (NMRS MS 899/101).
At NS 4193 6613, there is a 5m wide terrace, lying to N of the 19th century mansion (NS46NW 10.00). There are two flights of stone steps in line with paths on either side of the mansion. Each set of steps is 2m wide and 2.8m long and built from stone slabs. Modern landscaping has damaged much of the terrace which only survives around the W flight of steps. Both flights of steps to the W survive, in dense scrub, but only the lower tier of the E set has been preserved.
At NS 4197 6609, there is a stone-lined, square hole, measuring 0.6 across and over 1m in depth. Closely fitted, dressed sandstone blocks were used in the construction.
At NS 4190 6618, a subrectangular pile of large stone rubble (NMRS MS899/101, no.2), measuring 5m by 6m overall, was noted. Individual stones measure up to 1m across. There is no built masonry present.
