Archaeology Notes

NS33NE 29 38248 36537 (NS c. 38232 36551 to NS c. 38270 36519)

Location formerly entered as NS 38238 36550.

Not to be confused with Laigh Milton Viaduct (NS 38348 36902), for which see NS33NE 34.

This viaduct formerly carried the Barassie-Kilmarnock line of the former Glasgow and South Western Rly over the River Irvine which here forms the boundary between the parishes of Dundonald (former district of Kyle and Carrick) to the WNW and Kilmaurs (former district of Kilmarnock and Loudoun) to the ESE.

The location cited indicates the centre of the structure. The available map evidence indicates that it extends from NS c. 38232 36551 to NS c. 38270 36519.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 16 November 1998.
