Greenock, Dec. 30 [1879], 11.26 a.m., the following results of the gale are reported: a schooner sunk opposite Green Island, Roseneath [Rosneath], and both of her masts are visible above water. Gabbart EVA also sunk between Clynder and Roseneath [Rosneath]. Captain Campbell, of river steamer CHEVALIER, towed off twice the CERES smack, ashore in Kyles of Bute, and two other smacks are said to be wrecked near the same place. The smack ELIZABETH drove ashore at Millport on Sunday night, and has since become a total wreck. [Record received incomplete].

The location of this loss is uncertain. Green Island is neither noted as such nor apparent on the 1995 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998).
