Canal house [NAT]

This canal manager's house is of early 19th century origin.

RCAHMS 1992.

This building is clearly marked as Canal House on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1873, sheet clxx), on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1900, sheet clxxNE), on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1981) and on the OS 1:10000 raster map (ND).

Site Management (20 January 2010)

2 storey stone built villa with hipped slated roof. Recessed extensions to two sides and a conservatory to the south. Various outbuildings lie to the north and west. Extensive grounds overlook the canal basin. Later 20th century extensions to the west.

Originally the canal manager's house.
