Bowmore, Feb. 25, NATIONS schooner, Kennedy, which sailed last night for Larne or Belfast (grain), is reported to have been found on a tidal rock outside of Port Ellen Harbour (south side of this island) with no one on board. The shore people went off to her, and, finding her floating off the rock, tried to take her to Ardbeg, but she sunk before they got there.

NMRS, MS/829/69 (no. 2995).

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. The tidal rock in question cannot be identified, but was probably one of those that form prominent projecting reefs to the S and SW of the harbour.
