Archaeology Notes

NO88NE 311 8720 8675

For other elements of the Cowie Stop (or Cowie Defence) line, see NO78NE 10, NO88NE 87 and NO88NE 312 ; NO88NW 35 and NO88NW 36.

A pillbox has been cut into the steep slope on the N side of the Cowie Water, about 150m E of the Glenury Royal Distillery (NO88NE 59). Built of concrete blocks it has several loopholes and is not easily accessable due to heavy undergrowth.
