A type 27 pillbox has been identified from a WW II RAF vertical air photograph (C737/8-OT, 60113, flown 11 April 1944, original held by D Grant, photocopy in RCAHMS) situated centrally within the runway area, immediately to the W of the NW-SE runway.
It is not known whether this pillbox is still extant.
