The brass horizontal sundial dated 1675 is located in the formal garden directly in front of the entrance to the castle. It had previously been equated with a sundial at Nursery Cottage (NO 63039 57715), but photographic evidence now shows its central location in the formal garden. The other sundial at Kinnaird Castle, a cube, or facet-head sundial, is also in the formal garden. See NO65NW 21.21. (A Cassells, 10 December 2009).
