Part of the old Kinblethmont house still remains 10' high and vaulted with walls 5' thick. The new mansion was built in 1859.
A J Warden 1882; Name Book 1861
Kinblethmont is a crumbling L-shaped ruin measuring 12m x 5m with entrance in the re-entrant angle. The walls stand to a height of c. 3.0m, and the building is partly vaulted and partly covered with a corrugated metal roof. The whole is so densely overgrown with ivy and laurel, and surrounded by trees, that close examination was made very difficult. Some of the walls have narrow slit apertures in them, and are constructed of rubble masonry. An inscribed stone on the old stable- building states that the original house was built c.1650-80, and was pulled down, the stones being used to built the present mansion about 1850-60.
